If you need help signing up, we are happy to help!
1. The computer-assisted instruction areas in the library constitute an academic environment. The purpose is to assist students and teachers with research and project development relevant to stated course content and objectives. Activities not meeting these criteria should be carried out in alternative computer settings.
2. In the event that the classroom teacher is absent, the substitute teacher should remain in the classroom with an alternate lesson plan provided by the teacher. The class will be rescheduled for another day.
Library Conduct
1. All board-approved school rules will be enforced in the library.
2. Students on a pass from class must have something to work on quietly by themselves. If a teacher wants students working together, they must call ahead and let a librarian know.
3. Students are not allowed to have any type of candy, food, or drinks in the library.
4. Teachers are expected to remain with and supervise their classes at all times while visiting the library.
5. Teachers should assist in greeting/managing students as they enter the library.
Printing in the Library
1. Students may only print academic work.
2. No web pages may be printed. Information from the web must be pasted onto a word processing document before printing.
3. Students are limited to 6 pages of printing per day for free. Each page thereafter will be printed at a cost of $0.10 per page.
4. Google Slides and other graphical presentations should be printed in handout format. Ask a librarian for help if you don’t know how to do that.
5. Printing stops at the last 5 minutes of each class period. There is no printing in between classes.
6. Please don’t go behind the circulation desk to get printing. Ask a librarian.
Passes to the Library
1. Maximum two students per class (need more? CALL AHEAD). Students will be seated apart unless the teacher calls ahead for another arrangement. If students need a computer, teachers are asked to call the library at 4472 or 4473 to check for computer availability before sending students with passes. If we don’t receive a call first, the student can be sent back to class.
2. Substitute teachers may NOT write passes to the library.
3. Students on passes cannot sit by lunch students.
4. Passes written in the last five minutes of class or in between passing periods are not accepted. Passes must be written by the teacher of record for that period.
5. The only acceptable library pass is an official Thornridge H.S. Hall Pass. Students will give their pass to a librarian and sign in at the "Check In" Desk.
6. Teachers are asked to ensure that students coming to the library have an educational activity to engage in. Students who are off task will be asked to return to their class.
7. If a student is asked to leave the library, the teacher who issued the pass will be notified of the reason for removal, and the librarian will attempt to contact home.
Lunch in the Library
1. Students may come to the library instead of going to lunch. Food and drinks are NOT allowed in the library, even during lunch.
2. Students must arrive before the tardy bell and stay the entire lunch period.
3. Students at lunch cannot sit with students from classes.
4. Students will check in with a librarian. Students using the library during lunch may read or be engaged in individual study activities.
CP in the Library
1. Students attending CP in the library will check in by 3:05.
2. Students must have something to work on quietly.
