Career and Technical Education

Thornton Township High School District 205’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs prepare students for success in college, careers, and life by equipping them with hands-on skills, industry certifications, and real-world experiences. Through engaging courses and career pathways, students at Thornridge, Thornton, and Thornwood High Schools have opportunities to explore their interests, gain technical expertise, and build the confidence needed to thrive in today’s workforce.

Our CTE programs connect classroom learning with practical application, empowering students to:

  • Discover Career Pathways in high-demand fields such as business, health sciences, engineering, technology, culinary arts, and skilled trades.

  • Earn Industry Credentials that give them a competitive edge for immediate employment or advanced study.

  • Gain Real-World Experience through internships, job shadowing, dual-credit college courses, and partnerships with local employers.

  • Develop Leadership Skills by participating in student organizations, competitions, and community projects that build teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.

With CTE enrollment increasing each year, District 205 is committed to expanding opportunities that inspire students to graduate enrolled, enlisted, or employed—prepared to lead in their chosen fields and make an impact in their communities.
