Advanced Placement

hornton Township High School District 205 is proud to offer a wide range of Advanced Placement (AP) courses that challenge students academically, foster critical thinking, and prepare them for success in college and beyond. AP courses are rigorous, college-level classes taught in high school, giving students the opportunity to experience advanced learning and earn college credit while still in District 205.

Through AP, students develop strong analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills, as well as the discipline and study habits necessary for higher education. The program empowers students to:

  • Explore College-Level Curriculum in subjects such as English, mathematics, science, social studies, world languages, and the arts.

  • Earn College Credit or Advanced Placement at many universities by achieving qualifying scores on AP exams.

  • Strengthen College Applications by demonstrating readiness for academic rigor.

  • Build Confidence in tackling complex concepts and challenging coursework.

District 205 is committed to supporting AP students with resources such as tutoring, exam preparation, and guidance from highly qualified teachers. By participating in the AP program, students are better equipped to graduate enrolled, enlisted, or employed—ready to thrive in a competitive global society.
